Working Title: Makeup Artist

Subjects
My users included 3 women in early to mid-twenties, all of which I would consider to be potential users of the Makeup Artist website.
Think Aloud
I asked my subjects to visit the three different pages where they thought they would be able to find information about how to do natural makeup, a smoky look, and makeup with color. From there I asked them to explore different things, and though the site is not at a complete stage, I told them they could tell me which links they thought would hypothetically navigate them to specific pages.
Summary of Think Aloud
All three subjects seemed at ease that the site design was clean and easy to use. They also liked the content so far and felt that it used catchy language, which was very appealing and encouraged them to navigate to other areas of the site so that they could learn and see more. None had issues getting to the three various makeup pages.
Some of the links and/or how to access certain links confused some subjects, and one subject didnŐt realize until after navigating through the site that the guide bar at the top could have also been used to easily navigate the site.
Summary of Post-test Interview
In general the subjects all reiterated that they loved the content and language so far. They also seemed very pleased that the design and layout was consistent, simple and easy to use, nothing too fancy that could potentially take focus off the main point of the site.
All of the subjects would enjoy seeing more pictures, which they felt would increase appeal and be helpful to see a variety of different looks. One subject recommended that a more obvious link to the photo galleries should be created for easier access and she also disliked the picture of Lauren Conrad, another subject recommended that I make the top guide bar links more obvious for easier access, and the last subject recommended that I should add a thumbnail picture of myself at the top of the site to make it more personalized, and that I should also include some information about skincare.
Findings to be implemented
As a result of the alpha test, I will make the following changes:
á
Add more pictures with a variety of looks to
give my users more education and so that navigation to different pages is more
obvious
á
Create specific links to access the photo
galleries
á
Change the font of the guide bar links so that
they stand out more as an easy navigation tool
á
Add a thumbnail picture of myself to personalize
the site
á
Incorporate skincare information
Findings that
will not be implemented:
á
I plan on continuing to use Lauren ConradŐs
picture for the face of the Naturally Gorgeous page because I feel that she
stands out as having a look that most people would want and that her look
provides a clean, easy, and appealing template to follow
